The Samaritan Counseling Center offers Preparing for Marriage - an educational opportunity
for couples to explore the dynamics of marriage.
SCC uses the most advanced form of the "Prepare/Enrich" inventory, which helps couples explore
family background and personality traits in detail and provides information in ten vital areas
of marital satisfaction, such as expectations, communication, conflict resolution, finances and
parenting.
Each couple will receive the "Building a Strong Marriage Workbook" which contains exercises for
developing skills in resolving conflict, setting couple goals and developing a budget. The
"Prepare/Enrich" inventory is the most comprehensive premarital assessment tool available.
There are four different inventories available. Each couple should choose the one that best
describes the relationship:
·"Prepare" is for couples without children
·"Prepare MC" is for couples for whom one or both partners have children with each other or from
a previous marriage or relationship
·"Prepare CC" is for couples who are living together
·"Mate" is for couples in which one or both partners is 50 years old or older
The consultation includes the inventory, the scoring of the inventory, handouts and a two-hour
session with one of the premarital counselors:
·Dean Clemmer
·Betty Snapp-Barrett
·Frank Stalfa
The fee is $200 per couple. If a member of a Partner in Ministry church, the fee is $175 per
couple.
To schedule, please complete the registration form and return it to the Samaritan Counseling
Center with payment. When your registration is received, you will be contacted by SCC to
schedule time to take the inventory (approximately 45 minutes) and to schedule an appointment
for the consultation.
If you have any questions, please contact the Premarital Coordinator at 717-560-9969.
