The Marriage Tune-Up!
October 25, 2008
9:00 am - 3:30 pm

The Samaritan Counseling Center is offering this popular one-day workshop for couples who want to build or renew a positive connection and learn skills for managing conflict.

This workshop incorporates key concepts from "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work" by John Gottman. Each section of the workshop begins with a presentation from the facilitator, Frank Stalfa, D.Min., L.P.C., a film clip illustrating the issue or skill, private time for the couple to practice, and, finally, group feedback. Group sharing is voluntary!

Couples will:
  • learn ways to enhance their marital friendship on a daily basis;
  • learn how to manage anger and decrease destructive communication during conflict;
  • learn the difference between perpetual and solvable problems and the approaches effective with each type; and
  • understand the need to affirm their individual differences while seeking to create a marital identity and legacy that they share.
The cost for the one-day workshop is $115 per couple and space is limited. Couples will have an hour for lunch on their own. To register, please call 717-560-9969.

Frank Stalfa, D.Min., L.P.C., is a therapist and pastoral counselor at Samaritan Counseling Center as well as an Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at Lancaster Theological Seminary. Frank is a Diplomate with the American Psychotherapy Association and a National Board Certified and Licensed Professional Counselor.
