2009 Pastoral Leadership Series
Challenges of Congregational Ministry

The Samaritan Counseling Center is pleased to announce its 2009 Pastoral Leadership Series: Challenges of Congregational Ministry. The series expands our quarterly clergy breakfast meetings to include a three session group series on each topic presented at the quarterly breakfast. The series provides clergy with the opportunity to explore a more in-depth understanding of the subject in an environment of collegial support and mutual learning.

This new leadership series is offered as part of our expanding Clergy and Congregation Care Program.

Developing Ministries of Health in the Congregation
September 10, 2009
Clergy Breakfast
7:30 am - 9:00 am
St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church
10 Delp Road
Corner of Delp Road and Lititz Pike

The church is seen by some as the place of healing and wholeness – the only real health care available. What is that healing and health ministry that the church can provide? Ministries of healing and wholeness are unique to each congregation. They can be as simple as dissipating loneliness for shut-ins through visitation or regular telephone calls; advocating for the older adults as they seek to find a doctor or the “right medications”. It can as complex as a “Faith and Fitness” program to counter obesity in children and adults. Integrating faith and health - body, mind, spirit and relationships is a significant aspect of Jesus’ loving mandate leading to a healthy congregation.

There is no charge for the clergy breakfast for our partner churches (information on the partner program may be found here). For non-partner clergy, the cost of the breakfast is $10. To register by phone, please contact Barbara Tolbert at 717-560-9969, extension 256 or email at btolbert@scclanc.org. Payment must be received at the time of registration. You may also print the registration form. We accept Mastercard, Visa and Discover. Registration must be received at least one week in advance of the breakfast.

Leadership Group Series

It is amazing the difference a health ministry can make in raising the level of healing and wholeness in congregations. People begin to have hope that there are “ways through the healthcare maze”; children and adults begin to be energized through weight-loss and exercise; isolated persons find joy and companionship.
